Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions
Do we swing Trade?

No, the definition of swing trading varies from trader to trader, for us swing trading is trading the Daily time frame or being in a trade for a week or longer. Our highest trading time frame is the 240 and we may have 4/5 trades a month that are usually over before a week has passed.

Do we scalp?

No, the definition of scalping varies from trader to trader, for us scalping is being in and out of the market within minutes for 1-5 pips of profit, this does not meet our risk management and risk to reward rules and would provide us a very small return based on our current returns.

Do we use indicators or EA’s?

We do not use Elliot wave, Bollinger Bands, indicators (other than RSI) or EA’s as most indicators lag, by reading price as a technical trader we can obtain the most update information from the charts and obtain better entries and targets compared to an automated system.

Do we trade a set % of our account?

No, we trade a position size of 40,000 for our £20,000 account. We do this for several reasons, one reason is in trading we sometimes come across trading opportunities that are not as high probability as we would like but have a very high reward to risk. These opportunities are ideal to risk a small number of pips for a large reward however if we were risking 1% or more of the account this would conflict with our risk management rules.

How many signals/trade idea’s are posted?

This will vary depending on market conditions, major news events and price action. On  average you could see 5-15 signals per week.

When do we NOT trade?

During low liquidity times like the Asia session, major news or high impact news events, war, major disaster, election day, Christmas, New Year or any other political event that is unusual that could cause uncertainty in the markets.

When do we trade?

Monday-Friday during the London and New York session.

What do we trade?

A variety of major and minor pairs that have enough liquidity to keep broker fees low and the risk of gaps or unpredictable movement to a minimum. As a minimum we trade, AUDCAD, AUDUSD, EURAUD, EURJPY, EURNZD, EURUSD, GBPAUD, GBPJPY, GBPUSD, NZDUSD, NZDJPY, USDJPY USDCAD we trade these currencies on the following time frames, Daily, 240, 60, 15, 5 and 5 Range

What strategies are used to enter trades?

Our Strategies are all based around structure so this is fundamentally key to the types of trades we take, as Technical traders we are able to read any chart on any currency pair and time frame, this ability allows us to trade a variety of strategies but the ones we trade are based off the most profitable strategies we have found, these are, Trend Continuation, Countertrend, Flag Patterns,  Wedge Patterns, Triangle Patterns, Head and Shoulders, Double Tops and Bottoms, Bat Patterns, Gartly Patterns and Cypher Patterns.

Are we Technical or Fundamental traders?

We are Technical traders, we use technical analysis to determine what the market has done and where it has been, we use this information to determine the probability of where the market may go next.

Technical analysis is the art of reading price in the form of Chinese candle sticks and use rules based on structure to determine trend and reversals.

Fundamental traders may use news, gossip, papers, internet, blogs, media outlets or other traders opinions to decide what price will do. We do not do this.
